Silicon Valley, April 18, 2025 – io.net, the pioneering decentralized computing platform, today announced strategic changes to its senior leadership team, as it prepares for its next phase of explosive growth in the open AI infrastructure space.

In a recent announcement, Tory Green, co-founder of io.net, has officially assumed the role of Chairman of the io.net Foundation (formerly IOG Foundation). At the same time, Gaurav Sharma, former Chief Technology Officer (CTO), has been appointed as the company’s new CEO.

Advancing the mission of open infrastructure for AI

In his new role, Tory Green will lead the io.net Foundation’s strategic efforts to advance a decentralized, permissionless, and accessible AI ecosystem. The Fund’s focus will include:

- Promoting awareness of the importance of decentralized infrastructure in the future of AI
- Funding like-minded developers and research organizations
- Leading global research on decentralized technologies
- Collaborating with policymakers and industry leaders to build sustainable regulatory frameworks

Tory Green shares: “The need for decentralization in AI has never been more urgent. The Fund will enable the development and dissemination of open AI infrastructure – benefiting everyone, not just a small group of giant companies. I am excited to be part of the team building a sustainable AI future.”

Gaurav Sharma – From CTO to CEO

With nearly 20 years of experience in distributed systems and high-performance computing, **Gaurav Sharma** has held senior positions at Binance, Agoda and Amazon. At io.net, he is the principal architect behind IO Cloud and IO Intelligence – two key components of the decentralized cloud infrastructure for AI.

In his new role as CEO, Gaurav will continue to lead technology innovation, scale the global GPU network, and shape key products.

“From day one, io.net’s mission has been to create a decentralized infrastructure layer for AI – an increasingly urgent need,” said Gaurav. “I am honored to continue this work with such an outstanding team.”

Foundation and Enterprise: Two Arms Pushing AI Forward

The close collaboration between io.net and the io.net Foundation will be a pillar to uphold the principle of decentralization in the era of strong AI development. While io.net is responsible for building the technical foundation, the Foundation will be a force for policy advocacy and support for the global ecosystem.

The two new leaders – Tory Green and Gaurav Sharma – will host a live AMA (Ask Me Anything) on io.net’s X (Twitter) on April 29, to share more about their future vision and roadmap.
