Lucky Trader Turns $170 Into Over $225,000 Thanks to Solana Meme Coin TROLL

An incredible investment story has just been widely shared by the Solana community: a trader turned an investment of only $170 into over $225,000 by keeping faith in a seemingly forgotten meme coin – TROLL.

From forgotten to crazy boom

TROLL – a token with the famous meme image Trollface – was created on the Pump.fun platform in May 2024. Initially, this token hardly attracted attention, with a peak capitalization of only about $10,500 and then a free fall to $4,550 in April 2025.

But the magic began on April 20 – the famous "4/20" day in meme culture. TROLL surged 59,944% overnight to a market cap of $2.7 million, before continuing to climb to a peak of $27.37 million, according to data from DEX Screener.

Sit still and “diamond hands”

On December 16, 2024, a trader bought TROLL for just 0.8 SOL – equivalent to $173 at the time – when the token’s market cap was just $6,510. The transaction, recorded on Solscan, shows that the investor transferred all the tokens to a new wallet a few weeks later and waited until April to start “dumping”.

To date, the trader has made a total of 97 sales, netting $103,900, and still holds over $120,000 worth of TROLL – the initial investment is now worth over $224,000.

Swinging, Still Profitable

After the first sell-off on April 21, TROLL immediately dropped 55%, from $8.4 million to just $3.8 million. But the wave didn’t stop there – the token quickly recovered to $15.8 million, then continued to dance around the $25 million mark before falling slightly to $16.9 million – still a huge increase compared to the beginning of the year.

Meme coin: a dream of a new life or a trap?

TROLL’s story is not an isolated one. Last year, one investor turned $16 into $3 million on PNUT, a meme coin inspired by a New York man’s confiscated pet squirrel. Another spent $5,000 on GOAT and made $1.5 million.

However, not everyone cashed in on the moment. One trader who had $10 million in MOODENG lost all his profits in a month because he had “diamond hands.”

A cautionary tale for memecoin enthusiasts

TROLL may have been one of the year’s most spectacular “resurgences,” but it also exemplified the wild volatility and uncertainty of the meme coin market. Big profits come with big risks — and only the patient, or the extremely lucky, can survive and win this game.
